What Are the GEICO Payment Options?

GEICO lets you pay online, in the GEICO Mobile app, through an automated phone line, or by mail, and you can pay your full premium at once or spread it across installments. Setting up automatic payments through GEICO’s Policyholder Service Center is also an option, and it can lower the per-payment fee in most states.

Which installment plans and fees apply to your policy depend on your state and on whether the policy is new or a renewal. Your billing page in the Policyholder Service Center shows the exact schedule GEICO has set up for you.

Key Takeaways

  • GEICO accepts payments online, in the GEICO Mobile app, through an automated phone line, or by mail; online and the app also handle automatic payments.
  • Paying your full premium by the effective date skips installment charges entirely. Spreading it over 2 to 6 payments adds a per-payment fee that GEICO doesn’t publish as one flat number.
  • Enrolling in EFT (automatic payments pulled from a checking account) lowers that fee in most states, and GEICO says it can save up to $36 a year.
  • You can switch how you pay anytime through the Policyholder Service Center or the GEICO Mobile app, without a phone call.

Ways to Pay Your GEICO Bill

GEICO’s payment methods page lists four main ways to pay a car insurance bill: online, through the GEICO Mobile app, by phone, or by mail.

Online, you can write an online check straight from your checking account or pay by debit or credit card after logging in to the Policyholder Service Center. The GEICO Mobile app has a one-click bill pay option and lets you turn automatic payments on or off from your phone.

For a one-time payment by phone, GEICO’s automated line is (800) 932-8872. To pay by mail, send a check or money order to GEICO Insurance Remittance Center, P.O. Box 70776, Philadelphia, PA 19176-0776. GEICO’s site doesn’t list an option to pay in person or with cash.

Paying in Full or by Installments

Paying the whole premium by your policy’s effective date is the simplest route: GEICO says doing so means “you’ll avoid any installment charges.” If you’d rather spread the cost out, GEICO offers several installment schedules that vary by state and by whether the policy is new or a renewal.

PlanHow It Works
Pay in FullEntire premium due on the effective date; no installment fee
2 Payments50% on the effective date, 50% two months later
3 Payments40% on the effective date, then 30% and 30% over the next two months
4 Payments25% on the effective date, then three more 25% payments over the next three months
5 Payments25% on the effective date, then four payments of about 18.75% each (new policies)
6 Payments / True MonthlyRoughly one-sixth of the premium billed each month over six months (renewals)

Not every plan is offered on every policy. Check your billing page in the Policyholder Service Center, or ask GEICO, which schedules apply to you.

Hypothetical example: On a $1,200 six-month premium, the 6-Pay plan would bill roughly $200 a month before any installment fee, while paying in full means one $1,200 payment and no fee. These numbers are only an illustration, not a quote.

Automatic Payments and Fees

If you choose installments, GEICO says you “may be subject to an additional fee for each installment payment.” The site doesn’t publish one flat dollar figure for that fee; it depends on your state and payment method.

Enrolling in automatic payments lowers it: GEICO says “the normal service fee (which can be up to $5.00) is reduced to only $1.00” when you use EFT (payments pulled directly from a checking account) in most states. GEICO separately states that enrolling in EFT could save up to $36 a year on installment fees. As of September 2026, that’s the figure GEICO’s site publishes; confirm the current fee on your account before assuming it applies to you. The same Policyholder Service Center account also lets you switch to paperless billing and paperless policy documents if you’d rather skip the mail.
