This Privacy Policy explains what information Top Leads LLC, the Wyoming company that owns and operates RateFrog (“RateFrog,” “we,” “us” or “our”), collects when you visit ratefrog.com (the “Site”), how we use it and the choices you have.
The Short Version
- You can read RateFrog without creating an account or giving us your name or contact details.
- We use analytics services that collect information about your device and how you use the Site.
- We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use advertising or retargeting pixels.
- If you use a partner’s quote tool, the partner collects what you enter under its own privacy policy.
Information We Collect
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, our web host and analytics services automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, the page that referred you, the date and time of your visit and your approximate location based on your IP address. This information comes from server logs, cookies and similar technologies.
Information You Send Us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and the contents of your message.
Information We Don’t Collect
The Site has no user accounts, comment sections or forms that ask for your personal information. If we add a feature that collects information, such as a quote form, we’ll update this policy to describe it.
Information From Partners
Partners may share information with us about the quote requests that come from RateFrog, such as how many there were, so that we can be paid.
How We Use Information
- to run the Site and keep it working;
- to understand which pages people read and improve our content;
- to reply to messages you send us;
- to track referrals to partners so that we can be paid;
- to protect the Site against security threats, fraud and abuse; and
- to comply with the law.
Cookies, Analytics and Your Choices
We use these services:
- Google Analytics, which uses cookies to measure how visitors use the Site. Google explains its practices in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Clicky, a web analytics service that records the pages you view, how you arrived and basic device information. Its privacy policy explains how it handles data.
- Google Fonts, which delivers the fonts the Site uses. Your browser requests them from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies won’t stop you from reading the Site.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. There is no common standard for responding to browser “Do Not Track” signals, so the Site doesn’t respond to them. We don’t sell personal information. If we ever sell or share personal information in a way that gives you a right to opt out, we’ll treat Global Privacy Control signals as opt-out requests where the law requires it.
How We Share Information
We share information only in these situations:
- Service providers that help us run the Site, such as our web host, analytics providers and email provider. They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons, when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process or a government request, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of RateFrog, our visitors or others.
- Business transfers, if RateFrog is sold, merged or reorganized, in which case information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with other companies for their own marketing.
Links, Quote Tools and Partners
The Site links to other websites, including insurance companies, government agencies and partners’ quote tools. RateFrog and Insurance Panda, our quote partner, share an owner. When you leave the Site, the other website can see that you came from RateFrog, and its own privacy policy applies.
Quote tools usually ask for details such as your ZIP code, vehicle, driving history and contact information, and may share them with insurance companies, agents or other providers so they can quote you. Depending on what you agree to on the form, those companies may contact you by phone, text or email. Read the notice on the form and the partner’s privacy policy before you submit it.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. Analytics data is kept according to each analytics service’s retention settings, and we delete emails when we no longer need them.
Security
The Site uses HTTPS encryption, and we take reasonable steps to protect information. No website or email system is completely secure, so please don’t send us sensitive information such as your Social Security number, driver’s license number or insurance account details.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is meant for adults shopping for or managing car insurance. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we have about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it or to delete it, and to opt out of the sale of your information or its use for targeted advertising. California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and several other states give residents some or all of these rights. Wherever you live, you can make these requests, and we’ll respond.
To make a request, email contact@ratefrog.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line and tell us what you’re asking for. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, and an authorized agent can make a request for you with your written permission. We’ll respond within 45 days, and if we need more time, we’ll tell you why. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and if you’re still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.

We’ll post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make a significant change to how we use personal information, we’ll explain it clearly on this page.
